Hello! I’m Lora Lee Alves, MSEd LAc
Lora Lee Alves, MSEd LAc was raised in a Korean household and understood her family relied on East Asian medicine in many ways. She recalls smelling herbs being steeped in her aunt's kitchen to help whatever ailed them. As a young child, “Dr. Lee” received acupuncture after a back injury from a fall. As an adult, she began studying acupuncture and East Asian medicine after being treated for painful digestive issues; it has been a staple in her and her family's life for many years.
Since graduating in 2015 from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, Dr. Lee has sought ways to help individuals heal and be more content. She continues to be amazed by what acupuncture can do for those with pain, chronic conditions, and emotional stress. She began her career at a busy chiropractic practice in the city, and transitioned to a physical therapy setting in 2018. Currently, she works in New York City, Rockville Center and Hauppauge treating patients at Mello Wellness, Grand Central and Garden City Pain Relief. She is privileged with practicing this medicine for over 10 years all over NYC, Long Island, NJ, and NC.
Lora Lee Alves, MSEd LAc is trained in TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and is currently studying Motor Points with Richard Hazel and Dr. Yang’s methodology of orthopedic medicine. She loves incorporating other modalities beyond acupuncture into her tailored treatments including Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage), moxa (a warming technique using mugwort herb), Gua Sha (a scraping technique), cupping, electric stimulation, nutritional counseling, and Sho Ni Shin (a Japanese pediatric technique). She has had additional certifications with the NCCAOM National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine as Diplomate, and in aesthetic acupuncture, performing acupuncture facials utilizing the Celluma LED and cavitation devices.
In addition to acupuncture, Dr. Lee has had an extensive career teaching Science in elementary schools in NYC. Accordingly, she is very comfortable treating children and mediating western medicine and eastern perspectives.
Dr. Lee also speaks Korean and Spanish. She enjoys being active and is currently a member of Unity Jiu-Jitsu Valley Stream and Capoeira Luanda in NYC.
She and her team look forward to partnering with you
to improve the state of your life!
